If you're new to the idea of oil cleansing, you might be wondering how it works and why it's so effective.
Oil cleansing is a method of washing your face that uses an oil to lift away dirt and makeup. It's different from traditional face washes because it doesn't lather up like a bar or liquid cleanser. Instead, the product is applied directly to dry skin, massaged in gently and then wiped off with a warm washcloth.
Oil cleansing has been around for centuries. In fact, Cleopatra reportedly used almond oil as part of her beauty routine! Since then, there have been many variations on this theme — including using oils rich in vitamins A and E, like jojoba or grape seed oils.
There are several reasons why oil cleansing is so good for your skin:
It's gentle on the skin. Traditional cleansers can strip away the natural oils that keep your skin healthy by dissolving them into solution with other ingredients like sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS). Oils don't do this — instead they leave behind a protective layer of sebum that keeps moisture inside of your pores where it belongs!
How to do it:
You put two to three pumps of oil in your hands, and massage it all over your face, eyes, neck, and where ever else you would like. Massage it into your skin for at least 30 seconds. This not only turns on your lymphatic system to encourage detoxification, but softens and removes all dirt, bacteria, and whatever else is hanging out in your pores. Then you take a damp cloth, and gently remove everything. You’ll be shocked that your skin is left completely clean, without feeling tight + dry. (which is not a good thing)
Skin at Peace uses only the highest grade of grape seed, jojoba, and sea buckthorn oils. These are not the oils you find in your kitchen, but a higher quality of fractionated oils by heating and cooling at different temperatures to achieve the correct fatty-acid chain to be able to penetrate the skin without clogging pores.
