Do I need a toner?
Tone does three jobs in one step: it hydrates, lightly exfoliates with a mild lactic acid, and preps skin for Day or Night. It’s step two of the routine, morning and evening. Some customers also mist it over makeup to set it.
Can I use lactic acid every day?
Yes. Tone is made for morning and evening. It’s a mild lactic acid toner, with aloe vera, that hydrates and lightly exfoliates. If you’re new to acids or your skin feels irritated, drop to once a day.
Is it safe for sensitive skin?
Yes, Tone is safe for sensitive skin. It’s made without alcohol, preservatives, parabens, phthalates or fragrance, and each batch is made the week it ships. It contains a mild lactic acid with aloe vera. Everyone’s skin is different, so try a patch test first on the inside of your wrist before using it on your face.
Will Tone make my skin more sensitive to the sun?
Tone contains lactic acid, an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA), and AHAs can make skin more sensitive to the sun. Wear a sunscreen every day while you use it, and for a week after you stop.
Is it safe to use during pregnancy and breastfeeding?
Yes. Tone is made without retinoids, parabens, phthalates or preservatives, and every ingredient is safe to use during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Please check with your doctor before starting any new skincare.
Can I use it with my other products?
Yes. Tone takes the place of your current toner, and a simpler routine is easier to stick with. If you already use another exfoliating acid or a prescription skincare product, check with your doctor before adding anything new.
Why are there no preservatives?
Because each batch is made the week it ships. Most skincare is made to last years on a shelf, and that takes preservatives. They can also disrupt your skin’s natural balance. Ours is dated the day it’s made and meant to be used within 60 days, so it doesn’t need them.
How do I know my order is fresh?
Check the box and the bottle. The Made On date is printed on the box, and the Use By date is on the bottle. Each batch is made the week it ships, so the Made On date falls in the week your order shipped.
